Had a big argument at 6.00 o'clock this morning with the neighbour Gabi due to her son and his car. I think that's why I parked the car near the start only to realise I had left my GPS watch at home. I had also wanted to take some gloves and forgot those as well and they would have come in handy. Not having any kind of watch I had no idea of the time until after 34.6 kms when at the CP one of the guys said. After being the 28th starter I was the second finisher only Devenyi Ildiko finishing earlier in 5.35. Starting with my NB top on and my cycling jacket but it wasn't long before I changed into my short-sleeved tee, but soon after starting back I had to change tees which Maybe I could have avoided with gloves. Basically the route was Szentendre-Dobogókő and back It was very muddy. The organisers had marked the route with lots of tape which was very good, and unusual. It was a good decision to only do the 41 and not the 52 as I had to mix walking with running the last few kms. I carried cake with me but only ended eating one piece, but I did eat a sandwich just before arriving. I didn't eat anything that they provided as I didn't want to carry an apple and it was of course the usual bread and dripping. I can't believe the climbing was so much although the climb up to Kő-hegy on the way back wasn't so enjoyable. I had decided beforehand I would only classify the tour as running if my average was over 8 kph and of course not having any kind of stopwatch made that much harder as I wasn't just recording the time when I was actually running. We got a map but it was black and white and it was difficult to make out which paths we had to use. The last few kms didn't follow any recognised path. The Salomon shoes were reallly good and I didn't feel any rubbing during the run. As usual having to set the alarm I slept badly and I had a great desire not to go esp. as it seemed I had a sore throat but now, with hindsight, it seems I was just hisztising!! Have just found Ildiko's training. She measured 1260 metres and 41.11. It was interesting that she does the same as me and stops her watch for such things as going to the toilet and buying some food, so she wrote 5.24 as her time, which is 11 mins less than her official time, quite a big difference. I've used the temp. she wrote down and it's intersting how many calories - 2,677!!!
